Horse Spirit

There was once a horse spirit in me,
Brown fur, still eyes, that's all I knew.
Until in a hallway, a fixed look to you,
I knew it, the horse spirit had strong legs,
First place in a sprint race.

There was once a horse spirit in me,
Brown fur, still eyes, strong legs, that's all I knew.
A deep night, six glasses of ambered-color ale,
I knew it, the horse spirit was brave when it's screwed,
Twenty-seven missed calls in a crack of dawn.

There was once a horse spirit in me,
Brown fur, still eyes, strong legs,
Brave when drunk, that's all I knew.
Until in hallway, a fixed look to you,
I felt nothing, and I knew it,
The spirit had long gone,
But it remained brown, with still eyes, and drunk.
I did not know why did it flee?
I just knew that there was once a horse spirit in me.
